ESRB: E for Everyone
Revisiting Toki Tori for its Debut on PS3 with new enhanced ‘Move’ controls, 3D support, and the first time the game has been available in HD on a console. Released on November 16th on the EU PSN, the craze begins again as Toki Tori puzzles his way through his first HD console outing.
For those who have given Toki Tori a go on any of the myriad of devices it is now available on, you might want to come back and give this indie gem another try on the PS3. Incorporating the Playstation Move perpetual, navigating the puzzles in Toki Tori become even easier, and match the Wii controls with just a bit more accuracy. The gamepad controls are really tight and responsive as well and I found myself completing puzzles a lot faster once the layout became like 2nd nature. It’s not an exaggeration that it’s easy to forget you have a controller in your hand at all.
Coming along with all the stages found in earlier versions no effort was wasted to make sure this version was packed to the brim for the modest price tag. For anyone who hasn’t already experienced this classic now would be the time as this PS3 release is one of the best ways to experience this quirky puzzler.
The game looks amazing in its native HD resolution and runs at a really smooth 60 fps. The environments really pop on a good HDTV, and toki tori moves with familiar and smooth animations that make him such a loveable character, and with the included 3D support it’s the only way that you can experience a Toki Tori that seems to pop right out of the screen.
Over all I feel pretty much the same way I did about Toki Tori in my previous review. It’s a fantastic game with lots of great puzzles and unique tool based gameplay. With the additional move support as well as the game pad and 3D this might just be the best way to get into the Toki Tori franchise before the release of the Sequel.
I rate Toki Tori 4/5 Kupo!
